Kyle was very thorough in his explanation of how he could take care of our issues. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Hedge trimming typically is done in late winter or early spring. While maintenance can be done through out the spring & summer.
Overgrown shrubs should be pruned in late winter/early spring, just before new leaves appear. Managing large shrubs is done over a season rather than one and done. Here are a few tips:
- Use sharp pruners
- Avoid pruning in summer heat or in late fall
- Always remove branches that cross or are damaged or diseased.
- Ensure you are pruning evenly on all sides.
There are different types of bushes that require a different pruning schedule. Some bushes that flower in the summer, bloom on growth from the current growing season. With these bushes you should not prune in the summer.
Newly planted hedges need considerably more maintenance compared to more mature hedges. This maintenance is called formative pruning and it should take place for 2-3 years to ensure your newly planted hedge grows well and has the shape that you want.
If a hedge is on your side of the property line, then you own it and are responsible for trimming or paying for it to be trimmed. Your neighbor has the right to trim any part of the hedge that crosses or overhands over their property.
